Self Assessment 

This section is meant to help the athlete determine where to start the "M.E.N.T.A.L online modules".  

So...

  • Take a quick look at the **"M.E.N.T.A.L." skills development categories below & answer the questions honestly. 

  • If the answer isn't a resounding ABSOLUTELY - then that is an area to start watching & learning.

  • ...then off you go into the Plans & Pricing section & then the "M.E.N.T.A.L online modules" to start in that category 

Mindfulness, Concentration, Problem solve/Scanning

 

Mindfulness

  • In big moments in trainings & games, I stay in the present vs. think about what happened or what might happen next.

Concentration 

  • I can dial-in during matches and ignore distractions, regardless of score or circumstances.

Problem Solving and Scanning

  • I recognize and solve problems easily that are presented to me in training or games.

M.

Emotional Control

Pressure 

  • I stay calm & thrive under pressure in big moments. 

 

Self-talk to enhance/manage my emotions

  • I can manage my self-talk in big moments.

 

Breathing to enhance/manage my emotions

  • I can manage my breathing in big moments.

 

Imagery to enhance/manage my emotions

  • When I make a mistake, I can see myself doing it right the next time.

 

Body Language to manage my emotions

  • When I am feeling stressed, I don’t hang my head, instead I get after the next moment.

Never-Ending Confidence

Confidence (I believe in myself)

  • I believe in myself. When I make a mistake, I don’t lose faith in myself & keep pushing.  

 

Realistic Optimism to enhance confidence

  • I am optimistic and think “we can do this” and I am rarely pessimistic.

 

Body Language to enhance confidence

  • When I make a mistake, I don’t lose faith in myself and I make body movements that show that I keep pushing on.

 

Imagery to enhance confidence

  • When I make mistakes, I can take a deep breath and picture myself doing it right the next time.

Tenacious Motivation - Competitive Mindset, Grit & Purpose/Motivation

  • When I lose, I don't make excuses. I take ownership and work hard to get the next one.

  • I have a "purpose" for playing. I set goals based on that purpose and I do things because I choose to not because someone makes me do it.

  • Setbacks don’t discourage me and I don’t give up easily.

  • I am aware of what I am good at and what I need to improve on in training and games as well as over time during the season.

  • When I make a mistake, I take responsibility for my mistakes and don't blame others.

  • I'm positive in my communication w/ others & I willingly receive feedback from others about my performance.

 

Manages body language to enhance communication

  • When things aren’t going well, I am aware of my body language and can change it to be positive.

Listening

  • I listen to teammates and am coachable when people are trying to give me feedback.
